"It's Basquiat, Picasso and Madonna: all the things that influenced me when I first came to New York, layered together."

Marc Jacobs was the third and last designer who brought down the curtain over the annual spring/summer fashion week in New York. The Marc Jacobs show surprised spectators as it featured creations that looked more wintry rather than a spring or summer creation. Jacobs' collection included sweatshirts, jackets, jersey, and straight skirts – all in dark hues. The New York Fashion Week began at Lincoln Center on 5 September and paraded a number of celebrity attendees  including former footballer David Beckham, actress Nicole Kidman, rapper Kanye West, ace tennis player Maria Sharapova and singers Courtney Love and Alicia Keys, among others.
